Both LP® SmartSide® and HardiePlank® are widely recognized siding products—but they offer distinct advantages depending on your goals. At Anderson Homes, we primarily recommend and use LP SmartSide, an engineered wood product known for its durability, workability, and lighter weight. HardiePlank®, a fiber cement product, is valued for its fire resistance and classic aesthetic. However, it has more limitations in finish options and can be more restrictive when applied to custom exterior designs. While we do offer HardiePlank upon special request, LP SmartSide aligns best with the level of customization, finish quality, and design versatility we provide in our homes.
