More about Kenosha County

Whether you’re considering Kenosha County, Wisconsin, as a vacation destination or a possible location for a new home, you will find it both affordable and friendly. There are a variety of outdoor and indoor events year-round, numerous locally-owned restaurants and shops, seasonal attractions, and more. All four seasons are experienced to their fullest in this southeastern Wisconsin County.

In addition to being the home of Snap-On Inc. and Jockey International Inc. headquarters, Kenosha County houses many other big-name companies and businesses.

Distribution centers and warehouses in the area are owned by Associated Wholesale Grocers, Uline, Rustoleum, and Amazon.

Kenosha County comprises towns, villages, a city (county seat Kenosha), unincorporated communities, and several census-designated places.

Several major highways run through the county, the most recognizable being I-41, US-41, I-94, and US-45. The county is serviced by five railroads, one streetcar, and the Kenosha Regional Airport. To the west of Kenosha County, you will find Walworth County. To the southwest, McHenry County, Illinois. Also in Illinois, but directly to the south, Lake County borders Kenosha County. Lake Michigan sits on the eastern border and Racine County to the north.

Are you looking for a bit of culture or art? There are four downtown Kenosha museums: Kenosha Historical Center, Dinosaur Discovery Museum, Civil War Museum, and the Kenosha Public Museum. In the 1866 Southport Light and Lighthouse Keepers cottage on Simmons Island, you’ll find a Maritime Museum. The building has been beautifully restored.

In Kenosha County, Wisconsin, outdoor activities are a significant part of life. Kenosha County is no exception.

Settled along Lake Michigan, fishing always draws a big crowd. Ice fishing is popular among many avid outdoors people when the weather shifts to freezing in winter. In addition to visiting the above-stated lighthouse, the Pike Bike Trail, nature and wildlife areas, nature sanctuary and arboretum, Hawthorne Hollow, and 35 beaches draw locals and visitors regularly.

Family restaurants, pubs, and eateries offering specialized cuisine are found throughout the county. If you don’t have time to sit down and enjoy a meal, you can always grab a quick snack at one of the many fast-food chains that dot the main streets of towns and cities.

Once you grab a meal, it’s time to shop till you drop. Antique malls, premium outlets, plazas, shopping centers, gift shops, and more are available for those who love to stroll through retail locations.

Whether you love the out-of-doors or prefer staying inside, Kenosha County has any number of enjoyable locations and activities.
